Subject: Public Comment on Bike Path Grant
I have submitted public comments many times in previous months. Even though the District claims the comments go to board members and are part of the “record,” I’ve never received a reply or even an acknowledgment that any board member considered my comment. Still, I will try again here and also ask for your guidance.
Recently, BCHD contracted with the Cornerstone group for over $1 million for construction work on the bike path. This is plain from tonight’s Agenda Package. However, it appears this work is not within the scope or budget of the existing grant from LACMTA which was last amended in 2022. I understand that Metro and BCHD have not yet executed an amendment of the grant contract. Thus, I do not understand if BCHD expects to seek reimbursement from Metro for the Cornerstone project.
Please advise me how I can ensure that this issue is “on the record” if and when issues of the bike path are litigated. Will it suffice to produce copies of public records requests I’ve sent to BCHD regarding the bike path, or is more documentation needed?
