BCHD's decision not to protect Redondo Beach neighborhoods from 24/7/365 2-track rail is a failure of purpose of a health district. It is clear from the literature that 24/7/365 noise and vibration has a negative impact on residents. Further, BCHD has been posting repeatedly regarding the importance of sleep for health. Last, Blue Zones is clear that chronic stress - such as that caused by 24/7/365 noise and vibration is the "silent killer". All in all, it appears that Metro bought off BCHD with Metro's $1.7M payment to BCHD for 400-feet of bike path. That $4000+ per foot BCHD bike path is the most expensive cost in the United States according to repeated internet searches.
I am nauseated by BCHD's failure to protect Redondo Beach residents.
